Last summer my sister and I went to see Ingrid Michaelson at the Greek. At one point during the show she mentioned that she and her band try to recognize those moments during the tour that they were grateful for, “moments of appreciation”. They called them their “Momes of Apreesh”. We thought it would be fun to highlight those moments that we feel thankful for over the month of January.
My moment was such a simple one, watching Jack play basketball with so much joy and determination as we stopped by the Nike store last night. I can already tell and have known for sometime how much love he has for the game and am so excited to see where sports take him throughout his life – learning about teamwork, sportsmanship and making pals he will have forever. I’m so looking forward to cheering him on every single second. Go Jack!
My family kicked off 2016 with a big family slumber party at my parents’ house. It was the perfect way to end the holiday celebrations and a great way to start a new year—surrounded by family. We played games until the wee hours, laughed, told stories, napped, read and made some fun family plans for the coming year. The grandkids even cooked breakfast for the grandparents, which was very cool to see. I remember going to bed with such a happy heart knowing that we were all under one roof. It was an incredible feeling.
My son plays in his High School’s marching band. It is something he feels proud of and we think it’s fun to be a part of this community. Every year the band participates in the Disneyland Community Arts Program where they get to parade at the park. Early in January the band paraded at California Adventure. It’s a highlight of a hardworking parade season. These kids dedicate their fall to learning the music, marching in unison and parading in competitions. The Disneyland trip is their celebration for a great season.
The three of us
One thing all three of us are grateful for is the launch of this blog. We planned for this month for a long time. It’s fulfilling to look back and see we have 20 published posts under our belt. Phew! We have enjoyed reading every comment, celebrated every like, stressed over the stats, and feel happy to just be writing. We have so much planned for this year and we can’t wait to share it all with you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for stopping by.
