Work Life has been pretty stressful lately. But it’s in these times that I try to remind myself of all the goodness that’s out there and surround myself with thoughts, things and memories that make me happy. It usually means lighting more candles, planning for the holidays ahead, and injecting our life with fun activities.
So here’s a list of what’s currently on my goodness list:
Oprah’s Favorite Things 2016 List: It’s O-prah! My sister and I had it on our bucket list to one day, magically make it to the Oprah Show taping of her favorite things. (“How would we bring all that stuff back?!”) Alas, we never made it to the taping, but Oprah’s Favorite Things list lives on. I can’t wait to see made the cut this year. I already know I want it all!
Adele Cover Story in Vanity Fair: I’ve read snippets and quotes from this interview and if she brings her same relatable down-to-earth-ness and humor, it’ll be a great piece to read. I can’t remember the last time I bought a copy of a magazine (When did magazines become so expensive?), but this one has my name all over it. Can’t wait to read it cozied up on the couch with a nice cup of tea.
Harry Potter in Concert: Jessie and I missed seeing this at the Hollywood Bowl over the summer but we made it to this recent performance in Costa Mesa. And it was so good! Hearing the orchestra play live to the film was amazing. So many instruments and so many intricate pieces. It was magical from beginning to end and felt like being in the scoring room for the film. It made me want to read the books. (That’s right, I’ve never read any of the books.) And got me even more excited for the upcoming movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Halo Top Ice Cream: So much goodness in one little spoonful! I’ve heard the Weight Watchers community recommend the various flavors of protein-packed ice cream and oh, my…by the first bite I could taste why. Birthday Cake, Red Velvet and Mint Chip top my list but I’ve heard the Peanut Butter Cup and S’mores flavors are yummy, too.
Definicils Mascara by Lancome: I love a mascara that can give my lashes length and definition. So as a loyal fan of Estee Lauder’s More Than Mascara, it was hard for me to try anything new. But I’ve heard such great things about Definicils that I was happy to give it a try. So far, I’m loving it. My lashes look longer but with a very natural look. And the best part is I don’t have any afternoon smudges.
The Good Place: Jessie and I were on a brief, self-imposed hiatus as we marathoned our way through all six seasons of Parenthood. We just finished watching The Good Place and loved the clever take on the after-life and especially Kristen Bell’s portrayal bad-girl-turned-good, Eleanor. Definitely worth watching.
Tory Burch Gemini Link Tote: I may never own a Louis Vuitton Neverfull, and that’s ok. I mean, I can think of a few other things I can probably spend the $1,200. But I have always wanted a Tory Burch handbag, and her new Gemini Link Tote is the next best thing to a Neverfull. Same type of bag at a fraction of the cost. I love a good, lightweight tote, and the Jewel Blue one’s on my Christmas list. Here’s hoping Santa’s listening!
A Drinking Game: If you’re looking for a good time on a Saturday night, look no further. A Drinking Game is a theatre experience like no other. Bring your beverage of choice and watch a cast give a reading of one of your favorite movies while taking direction from their drinking cues. A catch phrase, specific word or character name can all cause the drinking to begin. We went last month to see a reading of Young Frankenstein and this weekend we’ll go back again for So I Married an Axe Murderer. “Woman. Whoa-man. Wooooooo-man!”
Painting and Christmas Music on Pandora: So, we’re finally getting around to finishing our office. It’s been a three-year project but this is the year we finally get it done! We’ve ordered posters for some of our favorite movies and we’ve picked out some paint swatches that we’re super excited about. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out. And even though I try to wait until after Thanksgiving before listening to Christmas music, I’ve been all about getting into the holiday spirit early this year. So I’m sure we’ll be painting walls and blasting some fun holiday tunes.
What’s on your goody list? We’d love to hear so share in the comments below.
