Music plays a big part in our lives for each of us Sense & Serendipity gals. Today we’re talking about the songs that we just can’t get outta our heads this week.
One of my favorite times during the day is the morning drive to school. It’s just Sofia and I in the car listening to music and singing along. The lyrics of “Hymn to the Weekend” by Coldplay has been playing over and over in my head. As I try to practice letting go and not feeling weighed down with life.
Oh, angels sent from up above
You know you make my world light up
When I was down, when I was hurt
You came to lift me up
The song I’ve had on replay over and over this week, especially while driving or getting ready in the morning is “Another Day of Sun” from the incredible La La Land soundtrack. Like the film itself, it puts me in such a good mood and inspires me to never ever stop going after my dreams in the glorious City of Angels.
Climb these hills
I’m reaching for the heights
And chasing all the lights that shine
And when they let you down
You’ll get up off the ground
‘Cause morning rolls around
And it’s another day of sun
I happened to stumble upon an ad for the Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen with a teaser trailer of the recording session for one of the songs from the musical, called “Only Us.” I listened to the song and to be honest, I’ve only heard it halfway through, but it has been stuck in my head all week. So simple and pure and the lyrics are romantic and sweet.
I don’t need you to sell me on reasons to want you
I don’t need you to search for the proof that I should
You don’t have to convince me
You don’t have to be scared you’re not enough
‘Cause what we’ve got going is good
We’ll be singing these songs into the weekend. Hope you guys have a great one!
